The Chicago Cubs will face the Miami Marlins on Saturday for the second of a three-game series at LoanDepot Park. On Friday night, the Cubs lost a heart-breaker when the Marlins walked it off in the bottom of the ninth with a Jean Segura RBI-single.
They will now turn to prospect Caleb Kilian for the start on Saturday to help right the ship and even the series. Kilian made his Major League debut in 2022 and compiled 11.1 innings pitched while allowing 13 earned runs.
Chicago is hoping that this time around Kilian has a different experience and can be more effective.
Kilian has been effective in Triple-A this season. The prospect gave up eight runs in his season opener, but has since allowed just one run in his last two starts combined.
He will be taking Jameson Taillon’s spot in the rotation after the veteran starter was placed on the injured list.
