Red Sox right-handed pitching prospect Chih-Jung Liu tossed 5 ⅔ scoreless innings for Double-A Portland against Hartford on Tuesday.

Liu, a 24-year-old from Taiwan, has allowed just two runs in 23 innings (0.78 ERA) over his past four starts. He has allowed 10 hits and nine walks while striking out 24.

He pitched a 7-inning no-hitter for the Sea Dogs against Akron on May 5.

He has had just one poor start this season, giving up seven runs in 3 ⅔ innings against Reading on April 21. He has allowed just five runs total in his other six starts.

Liu reaches 99 mph with his fastball. He also throws a slider, cutter and split-finger fastball.

He’s 4-2 with a 3.03 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in seven starts. Opponents are batting only .210 against him. Right-handed batters are hitting .145 against him.

Drohan to make Triple-A debut Thursday on NESN

Shane Drohan, a 24-year-old lefty out of Florida State, will make his first Triple-A start Thursday for Worcester against Lehigh Valley. The game will air on NESN with the Red Sox off Thursday.

Drohan earned a promotion from Double-A Portland where he went 5-0 with a 1.32 ERA (34 innings, five runs), 0.82 WHIP and .161 batting average against in six starts.

Drohan talked with MassLive.com earlier this season about improvements he made to his pitch mix.

Yorke homers

Nick Yorke, Boston’s 2020 first round draft pick, homered in Portland’s loss Wednesday. He also drew two walks and drove in three runs.

The 21-year-old is batting .267 with a .397 on-base percentage, .483 slugging percentage, .880 OPS, five homers, six doubles, two triples, 30 runs, 14 RBIs, 23 walks and 34 strikeouts in 30 games (116 at-bats).

Rafaela heating up

Red Sox No. 3 prospect Ceddanne Rafaela, a 22-year-old center fielder/shortstop, went 2-for-4 with an RBI and walk in Portland’s loss Wednesday. He has had two hits in each of his last four games, raising his average from .248 to .272. Rafaela recently set a Portland record with six steals in one game.

Meanwhile, Corey Rosier stole two bases for Portland to reach 20 steals this season.

Bonaci batting .340

Brainer Bonaci, a 20-year-old shortstop/third base prospect, went 3-for-4 with an RBI for High-A Greenville’s loss to Bowling Green on Wednesday.

He’s 17-for-50 (.340) with a .400 on-base percentage, .500 slugging percentage, .900 OPS, one homer, five doubles, four runs, 10 RBIs, five walks and 11 strikeouts in 13 games for Greenville.
